The Periodic Acid Schiff according to Hotchkiss-McManus Staining Kit is designed for use with the Tiziano Ultra-Compact Special Stainer.
Schiff reagent is a colourless, aqueous-based solution used in combination with periodic acid to highlight aldehyde groups.
P.A.S. staining is primarily used to visualise the presence of glycogen, but it also detects glycoproteins. Many tissues may show a P.A.S. positive, such as: the ground substance of connective tissues, cartilage and bone, mucous cells and glands, kidney structures, basophil cells of the hypophysis and colloid substance of the thyroid.
Includes 100-130 tests.
