The Periodic Acid Schiff according to Pearse is designed for use with the Tiziano Ultra-Compact Special Stainer.
Schiff reagent is a colourless, aqueous solution used in combination with periodic acid to visualize aldehyde groups.
The P.A.S. stain is primarily used to detect glycogen, but many tissues may show as P.A.S. positive. These include the ground substance of connective tissue, cartilage, bone, various cells and glands, kidney structures, basophil cells of the hypophysis, and the colloid substance of the thyroid.
Includes 100-130 tests.
